Photography Book 2011: a snapshot of Christmas gift ideas

That time of year again and, in no particular order, here are my personal favorite Project 12 Groups 2011-plus some bonus options.

‘ Lost ‘ photo of Captain Scott: 100 years of mystery

The lost photos of Captain Scott: images that are visible from the Antarctic expeditions legendary bring these people dare story to light, and do so with the remarkable stories of its own. A few years ago, as polar historian David m. Wilson was having drinks at a salon in London, he was approached by art collector by the name of Richard Kossow, who claimed that in 2001, he has bought a portfolio of Antarctica photos from the early 1900s. Wilson had been interested, but when Kossow reveals that the photographs of Robert Falcon Scott's 1910-13 expedition, ill-fated crew featuring Wilson's grandfather, Edward Wilson, and they are taken by Scott Wilson nearly choking himself, his gin and tonic. The rest, as the saying goes, is history.

Foreign service photography jobs posted

The Defense Department announced November 8, it seeks donations for U.S. military photo life abroad from current and former service members to use in a photo exhibition admission are planned in conjunction with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The project called "serving Abroad …Through their eyes "will select the image that depicts six specific categories: daily life, friendship, places, faces, loss or victory. The selected image can be used for display in a special photographic exhibition which is planned for the Smithsonian Museum of American art, the Pentagon and other great place, the United States and abroad. Submissions will be accepted through President's day, February 20, 2012.

"It was just phenomenal, and really fit that photos by America's most daring during heavy duty overseas get the national recognition of this kind. I can't wait to see them and take part in a new conversation and relationship is sure to inspire, "said Defense Minister Leon Panetta.

"America's foreign service officers and military personnel represents our country all over the world, and often in the most difficult circumstances. This photographic exhibition provides a unique view of their work to resolve conflicts and establish new partnerships and advance American interests and values. So I am glad the Office Art in embassies are in honor of this service of brave men and women, "said Secretary of State Hilary Clinton.

New York Times photographer Joao Silva has offered to hold a photo judge, who will be working with the famous American panel to examine the photographs and announced the choice of armed forces day in may 2012. Photography program aids the development of disabled

Then a few months ago, an instructor in life skills approaches Weleba about taking part in a program called "everyone deserves a shot." That's when Weleba, who have intellectual disabilities lifetime and do not live alone without a companion, life skills have a chance.

Life skills are given instruction in photography and camera basics to Weleba and 11 other people with developmental disabilities ranging from intellectual disabilities to autism for Down syndrome. They range from the ages of 21 through 73.

Photographer Natalie Cayton teaching them about the composition and lighting and different types of photography. He encouraged them to take photos from their point of view.

Since then, photographs of students has been exhibited at the evening events and benefits earlier this month in the third degree glass factory in Delmar Boulevard. Many have been sold. Proceeds from the sale of works of art are divided: 50 per cent to 50 per cent for the artist, life skill. (Framed pieces cost $ 175 and tangled pieces of unframed $ 75.)

Wendy Sullivan, President of life skills, says the project has assisted the Agency reaches the camera one of the main purposes: to let the outside world know that the disabled can make meaningful contributions and have talent just like everyone else.
